Abut the artist: Ida Muldrow
Ida Muldrow currently works for the prestigious Walt Disney Imagineering team, though her love for fashion design began when she was just six years old. Her mother, disheartened there were not many Black toy dolls to gift her daughter for Christmas, found an unadorned 18” Black doll body. Then she created a pattern for a ball gown using silk brocade. When Ida saw the doll, she was filled with pride and excitement, sparking her love for fashion.
For Tiana’s mansion party gown, Ida drew inspiration from the 1920s era of glimmering glamour. The style blends with Tiana’s elegance, epitomizing the beauty of the bayou princess. For Ida, she is proud to make an impact by designing this limited edition piece.
